The underground oil mill

The underground oil mill, Trappitello del Duca is an oil mill built in 1518 on the territory of Giurdignano, part of a complex oil processing system. It is possible to access the underground crusher through a staircase covered with barrel vaults. It ceased its activity only in 1940, boasting a good three and a half centuries of activity; in this evocative place relive centuries of hard work to extract “the gold of Puglia”
